We've all had the experience of being "stuck," unwilling or unable to see a way out of a painful or confusing problem. We long for God to make things different, for some sort of change. We experience that longing for others, too, and wonder what it would take for things to be different for them. In this manuscript study we will look at some Psalms that have a turning point. What happens? What does God do? How? As we do, we'll look at Hebrew poetic form, genre, and grapple with how scripture can give us a pattern and richer vocabulary for spiritual formation and transformation. This track is available at the following location:
"faith without works is dead" "the tongue is a fire, a world of evil" "change your laughter to mourning" "you have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence" "mercy triumphs over judgment" "resist the devil and he will flee from you" "God gives generously to all without finding fault" "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" All these verses are in the book of James. He is sometimes offensive. Hard. Encouraging. Convicting. Confusing. There are commands regarding money, our tongues, anger, many regarding prayer and perseverance and humility. He "goes there" and almost smacks us around a bit. He is passionate and straightforward. This weekend, we do not want to simply read and become familiar with the book of James. We hope to become doers of this word. The world hates the hypocrisy in the church. Perhaps the church hates the hypocrisy in the church, or is should. James has a solution for that - stop it. If you are ready for a challenge, study James. We hope it leads us to see how faith and works are inseparable. We may never be the same. This track is available at the following location:

So you're a Christian, life is good right? No problems or conflict, cruising to heaven with no speed bumps or challenges. Everyone you share the gospel with accepts it willingly, without argument. You don't even have to live much differently than those around you, right? HOLD ON.... REALITY CHECK!!! The Christian life is the good life, but what we miss is that it isn't always the easy life. Join me in exploring Paul's rejoicing that the "good life" is good because of the whole of what it means to be "in Christ", a status as difficult as it is glorious and rewarding. As part of Christ's body, we have confidence in His power, joy in fellowship with others in the body, enjoyment of all the perks as sons and daughters of the ruler of the universe, and strive as one to live for the greatest cause of all: God's glory. While Jesus was on earth, his life demonstrated that spiritual growth and change happen best in authentic Christian relationships. Younger students who follow Jesus are hungry for the friendship and influence of a more mature believer, yet few of them take on this privilege to walk alongside a younger believer. This track gives practical help especially to third- and fourth-year students who want to be more intentional and effective in helping younger students mature in Christ.
